Help Haiti
(art by Signal Noise)
Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably have heard of the devastating earthquake that happened in Haiti earlier this month. You can read the CNN report about it here. The sadness I feel for all these lost and displaced people has been overwhelming.
Being a creative person, I am especially moved by visual representations of problems. I'm not referring to the endless news footage, although it is very sad to see the tremendous damage, it provokes a more hopeless feeling for me. I am inspired by the art that has started cropping up to support the Haiti people. Smashing Magazine did an amazing round of some art related to charities and each image was really beautiful and inspiring. It's incredibly moving to see human beings take this enormous tragedy and channel their skills and ideas in a positive way that will benefit the victims.
My crafty friends have also donated items to be sold on Etsy for the cause. This effort is called Craft Hope and they are still taking donations for items to be sold. If you can, purchase an item, or if you are interested in donating an item to the cause, check out their website at: www.crafthope.com
